Over the years, the Zwarte Cross or “Black Moto-Cross” festival has grown to become the biggest festival in The Netherlands and the largest motor cross festival in the World with over 152,500 visitors in 2011. The festival is a mixture of motocross sports, music, camping and bizarre stunts. This year’s 16th edition of the festival was held from July 20th to 22nd.

Ronnie James Dio – A Photographic Tribute
As the old adage says: “A picture is worth a thousand words” & refers to the idea that an image may be more influential than a substantial amount of text. No one or any amount of words will ever fill the massive void that Ronnie left!
Please enjoy these additional images in tribute to the late Ronnie James Dio (and band).
*Special thanks to Bartolomy and Richard Galbraith for allowing us the chance to see some of their great live concert photography work.

Bart is a pro London photographer who used to publish a great Metal fanzine in the 80′s called:Headbanger (Holland) and was also an early Demolish contributor. After that he shot for about a year and a half doing military service. Then onto to advertising photography, to fashion, music, portraits and flowers + other projects. Be on the lookout for Bart’s upcoming photo book of old school Metal pics (The Heavy Metal Years ’82-’87). You can get a sneak peek at the web link above…have a look in the Archive section for a killer slide show.

Richard is a great photographer from Oklahoma. As a long-time fan of rock and a resident of Enid, Oklahoma, Richard Galbraith has attended countless concerts since the early ‘70s, and documented most of them with his photography. In his first-ever photo book, ‘Richard Galbraith Photography Presents KISS,’ the reader is offered a glimpse of almost every single major concert the masked quartet played in Oklahoma from 1976 through 1986 (close to 100 never-before-seen pix), along with notes from Richard.
*You can also see Richard’s work in notable books by Garry Sharpe Young (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath & Thrash Metal) and Martin Popoff (Ye Olde Metal Series).
