Metal fans are a funny lot. They are very loyal and their convictions can run deep. Many act a certain way, dress a certain way and some can even be accused of living in a [Metal] “time warp.” Either way, it’s a great time for fellow Metalheads [myself included] as the amount of bands that have reunited in the past few years is nothing short of amazing and is a testament to the legion of fans that are still following and or listening to their favorites from yesteryear.
I do not follow many Metal blogs or magazines, but I ran across an interesting post by Brett Stevens from Houston Metal Music (i.e. examiner dot com), who re-blogged a year-end snip from Natalie Zina Walschots entitled Metal 2011: The Year of Tradition (via exclaim dot ca). What these two writers were saying or reflecting on I found interesting and thought some of our readers might enjoy as well. Perhaps you’ve been discussing these very same topics and maybe you’ve watched the excellent Evolution of Metal series on VH1 Classic, which is probably the source or what sparked this public discussion of “true Metal” in the first place.
Without further delay, let’s hear what the above sources had to say about The “Return” of True Metal.
