DEMOLISH: Posts Special 80′s Fanzine Adverts

Following in the foot steps of the very popular 80′s Metal Fanzine Post, we bring you this special feature with a hand-picked gallery of super-rare Metal Fanzine Adverts (or advertisements if you are in the U.S.) and some cool fanzine logos. The actual photo GALLERY is near the end of the post.

Most of these are over 20 years old! These ads and flyers were sent out all over the Metal world in correspondence/letters and to be placed inside other music fanzines to further promote the underground music scene. This was truly a dedicated “tight-knit” group of people too, which included: bands, fanzine owners, radio stations, promoters, artists, distributors, photographers and last-but-not-least, the Metal Fans!

I thought it was proper to include these fanzine ads/flyers and give props to some of the smaller zines’ out there that may have peacefully existed under the radar of the average metal fan. Please note the Metal representation from many countries worldwide, such as Brazil (which was always a “hot-bed” of rabid Metal maniacs), Peru, Poland, France, Italy, Germany (or West Germany I should say from the 80′s), Canada and of course, lots of ads from here in the U.S.

As you can probably tell (or guess) that some of these were bad xerox copies at best (pun intended – ed), so the quality level is all over the map on these scans. But for the sake of Metal posterity, I am including pretty much anything that is at-least somewhat legible. I only discarded the ones that you could not read at all and there were quite a few of those too unfortunately.

I would like to keep adding to this gallery (see below) as I dig out more adverts and I would be more than happy to add any that I receive via email. If you have any, please use the contact form (at the very top of the page, right hand side) and send them in!

I am continually adding names to the Metal Fanzines list in the Contributors and special Demolish “thanks” section of this site. This will be an ongoing list, as I dig deeper and deeper into the Vaults (which is a unique ongoing “work-in-progress” as well).

We are also compiling a very cool Gallery of Metal show flyers as well. I have hundreds of these flyers, so this has taken some time to find and scan all of these. You have that to look forward to in the near future.

I have spent a lot of time digging, collecting, scanning, cataloging and posting these items, so please have the decency to give a link back to the Demolish blog here @ WordPress (at a minimum) should you decide that you just have to have these on your Metal site or blog. It appears that there are some people out there who like to just help themselves with our blog content, pictures and other Metal memorabilia!
