HEAVY LEATHER – Custom Leather & Guitar Straps

lady3

I received an interesting email a while back from Rachael Becker (owner+creative director) of Heavy Leather NYC, makers of custom leather and guitar straps that I wanted to share with you.

We thought it was a natural fit [pun-intended] to make a blog post about them especially since they recently launched a collaboration with the mighty Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath by making his signature vegan guitar straps. Thats right – custom/signature vegan guitar straps! Cool.

In fact, they actually make the custom tour straps for both Geezer and Tony Iommi and also have a full regular line of straps that are sold online and in retail stores. Other products include: vegan and leather goods, camera straps, accessories and motorcycle gear.

BTW I see they’ve launched the signature vegan guitar strap for Doyle/Misfits as well.

Heavy Leather NYC is a small business run out of New York City and Los Angeles, so we are happy to help out by spreading the word about these huge new projects.

Some other artists that wear the guitar straps include:

Johnny Winter

Doyle WVF

Cat Stevens

Matt Sorum

Raphael Saadiq

Jesse and Dave of Eagles of Death Metal

Black Sabbath

“I was put in touch with their management a couple of years ago and I said that I wanted make them straps – this was well before they announced they were going on tour. I sent over a couple of straps that I custom-made with them in mind and they both loved them. Geezer’s a vegan, so it was a challenge to make a non-leather strap. I’ve done straps in denim before but never anything that had to look like leather.” ~R.Becker
